Noirwich - Lee Randall interviews Greg Buchanan on 'Sixteen Horses'

As part of Noirwich 2021, bestselling author Dr. Greg Buchanan discusses the inspiration behind his debut novel Sixteen Horses. In conversation with Lee Randall, he explains his interest in exploring the vulnerability of animals and how treating their deaths as seriously as human deaths allowed him to invert crime fiction tropes.

Dr. Buchanan talks about the shocking premise of his book - the discovery of 16 decapitated horse heads buried in a field - and how this crime impacts the damaged community it occurs in. He also discusses his research into forensics and working with real-life veterinarians to accurately portray his investigator, forensic vet Cooper Allen.
